Charlotte Kluge

My ceramic approach is rooted in a strong craft identity formed by my training at Clay College in the historic center of pottery Stoke-on-Trent, UK.

My work falls into two categories. One being individual one-of work with an intuitive and spontaneous approach behind it. The other more uniform and functional work with a conventional skill approach behind it. Both holds my DNA and reflects the opposites that leads my making.

The functional work requires me to be skill disciplined, whereas skill serve as the backbone for my intuitive work. For me the two depend on each other and my making cant do without both.

Also I like to add materials that I gather in nature to my glazes - e.g. clay . It just gives a feeling of an ekstra dimension that bought materials cant buy
